How to install running boards on Chevy Silverado: Step-by-Step Guide

Updated at: July 02, 2021

Apart from giving additional safety to the car, a running board also allows passengers to enter and exit from the car. As the Chevy Silverado has a little bit higher ground clearance, this small yet robust add-on can help the cause. When you are running a hardcore off-roading on a hilly or forest area, these can protect you from many dangers. It’s time to show  How to Install Running Boards on Chevy Silverado for your safety. Because in the end safety is all that matters in the end.

How to install running boards on Chevrolet Silverado

Details and specs on the specific running board installation depend on the exact year, model, cab type, and trim level of the Chevy Silverado. All details are manually noted in the installation sheet that is available along with every package. Bully USA includes installation brackets and hardware with the running boards for your vehicle unless the item description states that the hardware is not given. It is good enough to have the generic running board installation manual near at hand. It proves really handy to install running boards on your Silverado truck by yourself and save time on the installation.

Step 1. Start the running board installation procedure from the driver’s side of your Chevy Silverado truck. Inspect the rocker position of the truck and locate 5 tabs (pinch weld). You have to install brackets by bolting them to the 1st, 2nd, and 5th tabs.

Step 2. After the holes are located, remove the rubber plug from the larger hole. The clip nut will go into the bigger hole and the threaded nut has to be put in order with the smaller hole.

Step 3. Always remember that the brackets are universal and will work right on the drivers and passenger sides. Mount brackets supposed to be with bolts to the OE threaded holes. Attach but do not tighten the bolts for now.

Step 4. Do the same steps for the remaining 2 brackets on the drivers’ side too. When brackets are installed, place the running board on the mounting brackets and make sure it matches the bolts along with it. Do not slide or turn the running board to avoid unwanted damages. The running board has to be lined up 3 inches back from the wheel opening. When it’s done, attach it with bolts but do not overtight the hardware.

Step 5. Move to the passenger side of the Chevy Silverado. When working on the installation on this side, make sure that the boards and mounting hardware do not cause any trouble or interact with the fuel tank or lower tank under the tray. If it does, the tank or tray will require to be dropped a bit (tank/tray removal is not a required process).

Step 6. Continue with the installation of the passenger side running board as you did on the driver’s side. When the installation process is complete, make sure the bolts are properly tight enough and the hardware is not loose.

Uses of Running Boards

The vital purpose of the running boards is to prevent the side of the car from directly being hit by any other car or anything. And safety is all that matters most to you and your loved ones.

They are not just for uplifting the styling factor of the vehicle; they bring you many benefits too. Right from providing you safety to keeping your vehicle covered from any kind of dent or damage, this simple and straightforward invention is there for you to give you a safe driving experience in any road conditions. Give it a new makeover to your Chevy Silverado now with stylish running boards.

As there are so many different designs and patterns available, the material of the running boards could differ largely. They are stainless steel, chrome, or other types of powder-coated content.

After all these, it comes down to your personal preference for your vehicle. But you must remember a few things:

Silverado Leveling Kit Problems: It's better to be aware

Updated at: June 22, 2021

A leveling kit is also known as a suspension lift, it is a vehicle modification that is used to raise the height of a vehicle. We usually do it to improve the off-road performance of trucks, SUVs, and other off-road vehicles. Today, we will talk about a popular leveling kit company, Silverado.

Silverado is mostly known for its leveling kits. They provide high-quality and budget-friendly leveling kits. Despite that, same as all things there are bound to be a few problems with them.

In this article, we will talk about the Silverado leveling kit problem, and how to solve them. But first, there are some necessary things that you need to know.

About Silverado

The Silverado is a model line of trucks manufactured by the Chevrolet brand. This Silverado model of Chevrolet was introduced in 1999. The Silverado offers a full series of pickup trucks, medium-duty trucks, and chassis cab trucks. The model introduced in 2019 was the 4th generation of the Silverado model line.

Leveling kit problems

Leveling kit performs a major part in raising the front of your vehicle, making it the same level as that of the back. So, you must be aware of the problems beforehand to avoid any damage to the truck's suspension system. Some of the most common issues that you may face are given below:

1. Improper installation

This is a common problem of the Silverado leveling kit. To avoid this problem, you can seek the help of a good mechanic to install it. All types of leveling kits have instructions as well. The truckload depends entirely on the suspension system. Therefore, it is probably very important for each part to be installed.

2. Tie-Road Affections

This problem usually occurs when you intend to give your truck a lift. If you place big tires, you will encounter this problem. The tie poles might bend or fracture underneath the impact.

To solve this problem you have to install post-factory tie rods. Post-factory tie rods are designed to compensate for the difference in angle or edge made by setting up a leveling kit.

3. Maintenance Needs

Another important problem of leveling kit is the need for maintenance. There is a huge possibility that you will damage some of the parts of the suspension system faster than others. The joints get damaged faster when adjustments are manufactured to the front suspension.

To solve this problem, you need to make adjustments only when necessary.

4. Damaged Suspension Mechanism

A part of the suspension's system mechanism may get worn out too early.  If this stays in the suspension system too long then it will also damage your suspension pads. Damaged suspension mechanisms are pretty harmful.

So, you need to keep that on your mind. If you see a damaged suspension mechanism in your suspension system, then you need to replace it as soon as possible.

5. Low fuel Mileage

Low fuel Mileage is a common problem of Silverado leveling kits. It's a reduction in mile coverage and range of the Silverado.

The racing automotives are required to stay as close to the group as possible. This increases airflow. If you plan on leveling your truck, then you won't have to reduce gas mileage.

6. Issues why shocks

If you have a leveling kit on the front side, you have to change the shocks too. Factory-installed shocks don't work probably when you increase the height of your vehicle. If you don't replace it, then the charge will break down after a few days.

The replacement charges don't work as great as the company-installed charges. The ride quality might not be the same as before. If you want to avoid that problem, then we suggest that you don’t lift your vehicle too much.

How to prevent Silverado leveling kit problems

There are a few steps you need to follow if you want to prevent leveling kit problems. You can do it with proper maintenance and servicing. You can also take some tips from a good mechanic.

1. Maintenance

Silverado leveling kits can be maintained by standard components and proper installation. You need to take your trucks to service after a while.

2. Tools to repair

  • Alignment tool inflatable shim bag
  • Air wedge pump
  • A drill
  • A wrench
  • 4 jack stands
  • Vice grips

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Do both the front and rear suspension have a superlift leveling system?

Ans: Both front and rear suspensions have superlift. But rear suspension doesn't include a leveling kit.

2. Why are leveling kits so inexpensive?

And: The leveling kits are inexpensive for a few reasons. The main reason is that it needs fewer parts.

3. How much height will the leveling kit provide?

Ans: The amount of lift a leveling kit depends on the vehicle model that is being leveled.

4. Do I need new shocks?

Ans: All leveling kits don't require new shocks. But if your shocks have more than 20,000 or more miles, and you plan to drive off-road then we suggest you have new shocks.

5. Can I install a leveling kit at home?

Ans: Yes, you can easily install a leveling kit at home. Because of easy set-up and instructions

If you want to lift your truck or SUVs then leveling kit is what you need. But there are many types of leveling kits on the market. There are good ones and bad ones. Leveling kits are mainly used in your vehicle for off-road and aggressive driving.

Silverado leveling kits are best for you at present. They use high-quality materials to improve vehicle performance. Silverado leveling kits problems are rare to find. Because the manufacturers are improving their products as much as possible.

How to Stop Rust on Your Car: Keep your car rust free

Updated at: June 22, 2021

It doesn't matter how beautiful your car is, it will surely face the rust problem in the end. That is inevitable. Cars don’t have a set age when they start to face rust problems. As time goes on, your car, truck, or crossover will start to rust. Silently and slowly it will spread, expand and eventually destroy its finish, structural integrity, and much more. So, you must have some knowledge about how to stop rust on your car.

Rust can occur virtually anywhere. In clear locations on the painted surface of your car, under its floor, between its body panels, even in plastic trimming and weather-lifting areas. When rust formation begins, it becomes hard to stop rust on your car and it is very aggressive.

Rust types of your car

Basically, there are three common types of rust. They are explained below :

Surface rust

Infects the top layer of your car. Usually occurs on body panels and nicks. The best hope can be found if the damage can be treated at this stage early.

Scale rust

It happens when rust on the surface layer is left for long and the metal of the panel spreads out enough to corrode. The salt found on the streets is ill-famed for speeding up the erosion process and can affect the integrity of the metal itself.

Penetrating rust

This is the most harmful and malefic type of rust for your car. You may need to replace whole body parts and panels if you avoid surface and scale rusts for whimsical growth.
Common reasons for rust on your car

Older cars were usually made without a non-reactive coating which made them more vulnerable to rust. So new cars use arch liners to prevent damage to the wheels.

Driving style

If you drive off-road or on the hips, your risk of corrosion may increase.

Fragmented salts used on icy roads can also speed up the corrosion process. As higher temperatures usually lead to higher rates of corrosion. Acquaintance with regular rain, sleet, and snow will increase the chances of your car’s metal moisture oxidation.

Frequent paintwork and protective coating may suffer from erosion. If the metal works come in contact with moisture in any way, it eventually rusts and corrodes.

Common locations of car rust

Rust can occur anywhere in the car. Rust on the surface is often only the tip of the iceberg, as corrosion usually builds up inside the panel or part; but you will be able to see its effects from the outside. The most important thing to look for is to see if there are any external paint bubbles. This is often the first sign of rust.

There are a few other areas besides which you should pay extra attention. Which are mentioned below :

Due to the proximity of the tires there is a tendency to come in contact with moisture which can shake dirt and other elements in the lower part of the car.

Wheel wells

The curves on the top of your tires are prone to rust. Older cars in particular do not usually have arch liners.

Frame rails

Run underneath both sides of the car, even the doors.

Your tailpipe comes in contact with moisture from inside and outside the car. Which is trapped by mud and dirt.

The floor of the car

Make sure you are pulling a carpet to look for any signs of rust.

The areas around the glass tend to leak and are more prone to moisture.

Make sure there are no faults inside and outside the door.

4 ways to identify rust in your car

Moisture or water damage to the carpet is usually a sign on the footway or boot that the metal below has rusted.

Bubbles at the bottom of the paint usually indicate that the paint has lost contact with the bottom panel. Because water and air have gathered in it. It will not be long before the area is covered with rust.

Irregular paint

Color stains and stripes that do not match with the original paintwork can be rust repair work.
Body damage: Look for nick and dents. This is because they often lead to rust when left unprotected.

Ways to stop rust and corrosion on your car

Whether rust can be repaired depends on the extent of corrosion to your car and where corrode was done. Surface rust on the paintwork can be easily repaired. But on the other hand, severely damaged parts of the car may need to be completely replaced.

You can fix the car rust in two ways.
The first being, if you are a little proficient in the matter of cars, then you will be able to buy all the materials at home and follow the instructions to fix the rest of the car very easily. The second way is, you can fix it by going to a skilled mechanic with money.

Most of the time mechanics are charged too much to fix the car rust. In the amount of money which exceeds 300 dollars to 1000 dollars. You can even treat rust at home but keep in mind that you should know about some of the automotive experiences and how to treat rust at home.
Here you can fix the rust off your car yourself at home by following the instructions below :

Equipment you will need:

Sandpaper: If the rust is deeper than the surface you will need a lot more aggressive grit sandpaper such as 80, 400, 600, 1000, 2000 & more grade.

Wax and grease remove: It will be necessary to clean the affected area before applying primer or clear coat.

  • Body filler: To fill the areas that have become much broader.
  • Painter’s tape: As an additional layer of protection of the affected areas.
  • Paint matching the car color: In keeping with the skin color of the car.
  • Plastic Sheeting: To cover the car and avoid damage to the area around the rust damaged area.
  • A grinder tool: It Will depend on the type and depth of rust.

Protective gears:

  • Latex gloves.
  • dust mask.
  • protective goggles.

For Surface rust

  1. The first step is to get your car ready. Cover the car with a sheet of plastic so that it can protect it from fine dust that will flow at the moment.
  2. Leave the area where you are working with a few inches of space on the side. Make sure you choose a hot day because it will help with the drying process.
  3. Next, make sure your mask is well airtight, the goggles fit well and your gloves fit snugly in your hand.
  4. Before sanding you clean the area well with wax and grease remover.
  5. Start sanding. Use fine-grit sandpaper on the rust patch until you reach the metal. Rust remover spray is extremely corrosive. So be careful when handling it. However, we recommend using the sanding method.
  6. When the shiny metal is exposed clean the area again with wax and grease remover.
  7. It's time to primer and paint. It is recommended to use rust-resistant paint as you will not need a separate primer.
  8. Spray the primer in a smooth motion over the exposed metal. Let it dry for about 30 minutes.
  9. Next, you need to scrub the primer with ultra-fine grit sandpaper until it's smooth to touch.
  10. To get the right finish, practice on a piece of cardboard with different speeds and distances before applying the paint.
  11. Again clean the surface well so that there is no dust and now apply the car paint.

  • Body fillers are not required for surface rust.
  • Do not wax your car for at least 3-4 weeks.

For Scale rust

  1. Follow the Surface rust steps up to step 4 where you clean the surface with wax and grease remover. You will need grinder tools for the next step.
  2. You need to trim the dust by a 2" or 3" grinding disc mounted for a right-angle grinder. To remove the heavy scales you need to start with a more aggressive 36 grit disc.
  3. Then go to 120 grit to remove the remaining rust and the surrounding paint.
  4. Now simply use a grease remover and a microfiber cloth to clean the fine dust area.
  5. Next, use a body filler to fill the voids in bodywork and let it heal or dry.
  6. Smooth the body filler using perhaps 180 grit fine-grit sandpaper.
  7. Keep going to the fine grit up to 600 until the fill is smooth enough to touch and all the booking grooves are no more visible.
  8. Thoroughly clean the surface again with wax and grease remover.
  9. Make sure you use smooth motions and spread the primer evenly.
  10. Next, you need to apply two primers to the pepped surface. Also, make sure you apply the second coat after the first one has dried.
  11. Use 600 grit sandpaper and sand until it feels smooth.
  12. Now as the final coat apply the automotive paint. Also, you can go for two coats side by side. Make sure the paint matches the rest of the car.
  13. Finally, after the paint has dried, steam it with a microfiber cloth.

Note: It is best not to wax for 3-4 weeks after the procedure.

For Penetrating rust

Penetrating rust is the third type of rust. As the name implies, it is a type of harmful rust that causes holes in the metal. No way back from this stage for your car.

If your car has penetrating rust for any reason, that body panel will definitely need to be replaced. Go to any experienced car mechanic or your car brand service center.

Basic care tips for stop rust on your car

  • Keep your car dry - After parking your car in the garage you can use a dehumidifier to remove any moisture in the air.
  • Apply oil - Oil is a great tool in the fight against rust and corrosion. Applying oil with the help of Smart Straw will help to avoid moisture from your car hinges, joints, and other hard-to-touch areas.
  • Coat of wax - You can try using a wax injection gun to reach places where moisture is likely to accumulate over time. A wax coat will add a lot of protective layers to your paintworks.
  • Rinse & dry - Once you’re done with a hose, will stabilize on your paintwork and eventually prevent rusting dirt and wrinkles of the day. In wet weather, you should try to wash your car with water quickly and dry it as soon as possible.

The American industry spends about 7 billion dollars each year on eroded machinery, buildings, and equipment. Although, stopping rust is an expensive problem; by understanding the root reasons, effective measures can be taken to prevent and deal with this problem to stop rust on your car.

There are a few things you can do to stop rust and corrosion from forming. But most of the time, these methods may not be so effective for stopping rust on your car. So, let’s be extra careful about our cars and keep them away from rust.

How to Rebuild Lb7 Injectors: Step-by-Step Instruction

Updated at: June 22, 2021

An injector is a device that injects liquid fuel into an internal combustion engine, mostly automotive engines. Lb7 is an automotive engine fuel injector.

It's one of the best fuel injectors. Today in this discussion, we will tell you how to rebuild Lb7 injectors.

Lb7 injectors are not very strong, and famously unstable. So, people have to replace them very often. But not for those types of people, who are interested in rebuilding things instead of buying new ones. Now, we will give you some step-by-step instructions on how to rebuild Lb7 injectors.

But before that, first, let's talk about the reasons why injections might fail.

Reasons for Lb7 injections failures

1. Over torqued injection halves

This is a common reason for leaks in the fuel system. Because of this fuel travels to the crankcase and causes many problems.

2. Fuel System Contamination

Poor maintenance will cause the fuel system to fill with water, dust, and other contaminants. They also cause erosion.

3. Low Lubricity

It means the parts of the injector are worn at a faster rate than usual. As a result, it can lead to damage.

4. Old Lb7 injections

Very old Lb7 injections have a design that causes them to wear out faster than new injections. But after 2007 injections have improved and solved this problem.

How to diagnose Lb7 injector failure

There are a few ways to diagnose if your Lb7 injector has failed or not. Here are them.

1. Use your nose

If your vehicle gives a smell of unburned fuel, then it's an indication that your Lb7 injector might be failing.

2. Check the crankcase

Check your crankcase for fuel. If there is any then you're facing leaks in your Lb7 injector.

3. Check balance rate

It's a simple process. If any of your displayed balance rates go beyond 3 mm3 then you probably have a failure in the injector.

How to rebuild LB7 injections?

After a few necessary discussions, here is the part of what you really came here for. To rebuild your busted LB7 injector, you must follow a few simple steps. Here's how to do it:

LB7 injection parts
LB7 injection parts

Step 1: Take it apart

The injector has 3 parts that you must keep in mind while trying to rebuild it. The cap, injector body, and the nozzle. There is a spring inside of the body part.

Take a wrench and rotate the cap to open it. Now the nozzle is separated from the body. That's the part we are trying to replace. Also, take out the spring.

Step 2: Clean the injector parts

If your diesel injector needs rebuilding then it's possible that it's been in use for quite some time. So, there should be some dust and grime inside. First, you need to clean that. Use pressurized air to clean it.

Step 3: Reassemble the parts

Take all the parts which you have separated earlier. Then assemble them as they were before. But this time you will replace the old cap and nozzle with new ones. Use a wrench in order to tighten the cap.

And that's all, you have successfully rebuilt your LB7 injector.

How to prevent the injector from failure?

By doing a few simple things you can allow your injections to last longer. This helps you to avoid the hassle of rebuilding your injections.

Always keep your fuel system clean. It will help you to decrease dust and grime build-up in your injections. It will make them last longer.

Use an injector cleaner. Fuel additives are not recommended. But it's good to use injector cleaners from time to time to make sure your LB7 injections are in the best condition.

Avoid fueling from unreliable sources.

Is it worth rebuilding?

For many people, it would be worth it to feel the thrill of fixing something instead of opting for the easier option of ordering it. Which is enough to justify rebuilding the injections.

But from an economic and technical point of view, I have to say no. The injections are a very delicate part of the engine. Fixing it in an unsuitable environment may allow contaminants to enter inside of it. So, you might have to rebuild it again pretty soon.

On the other hand, there is a matter of cost. Buying the proper components, again and again, will cost enough to not justify rebuilding the injections. It also wastes your precious time.

The bottom line is if rebuilding doesn't justify then buy a new one. But it's not our decision to make if it's worth it or not. You are the one who will decide that it's worth it or not in the end.

Lastly, all we want to say is, thank you for the time you have given us by reading this guide. We hope that the instructions have helped you out to rebuild your Lb7 injections.

How to Deep Clean Your Car: Step-by-step guide

Updated at: June 22, 2021

Keeping your car clean also keeps odors from developing and can help its resale value too. A deep clean just before selling won’t do the trick—it’ll be too late to lift all the dirt that has sunk in over the years. Therefore, you as a car owner need to have some knowledge about how to deep clean your car. But there's a lot of solution to keep your car neat and clean for all kinds of problems.

In this corona pandemic, admit it or not, your car has probably been sitting unused more than usual over the past several months, but that hasn’t stopped dust and dirt from accumulating inside. Even if your car wash stayed open during the pandemic, you may not have wanted someone to detail, or deep clean, the interior of your vehicle. Plus, the job can cost $100 or more, requires you to drop off and pick up your car. But it can easily be done on your own.

In this discussion, we are going to tell you about some useful ways you can easily deep clean your car.

How to Clean Cup Holders

Clear the cup holders on the side of the seats. These are the dirtiest spots in your car. To clean them fast, put an old sock over the bottom of a travel cup, spray it with window cleaner, and twist. Then get into the corners with a wooden barbecue skewer and pick out any remaining crud; remove it with a microfiber cloth. To make cup holders easier to clean, invest in rubber liners that you can take out and rinse. You can buy them at dealerships, car washes, and auto-parts stores. You can buy these from our sites with a discount too. We can provide you with the best cleaning tools that take your little time to clean up your mess.

Look around a car’s nooks and crannies, you will probably find pens, change, keys, mud, and other odds and ends. After grabbing the big stuff with your hands, use a barbecue skewer to pick out the debris wedged between sill lips and carpeting. Then vacuum the area using the cleaner’s crevice tool. Finish off the area with a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. You can use a toothbrush and some baking soda with a little water to take out the dirt that stuck down there for a decade.

You don’t need expensive tools to clean out tight interior areas. Wood skewers and cotton swabs are great for small spots such as vents, seams, buttons. Old makeup brushes like those toothbrushes also work well in louvers and vents.

How to Clean Seats and Carpet

Things to do: Vacuum the carpet and cloth upholstery using the right attachment for the job. An upholstery tool’s short bristles can agitate dirt out of cloth; a crevice tool can reach under and in between seats and into corners. A steam cleaner lifts stains from carpet and upholstery, but soap and water on a soft cloth work too.

Things to avoid: Never soak seats; damp cushions encourage mold and can create a musty smell.

How to Clean Vinyl and Leather

Vinyl and leather are treated with a protective coating that requires gentle cleaning.

Things to do: Clean them with a cloth and a small amount of dish or soap and water. Try to use soft cloth for better results. Follow with a leather conditioner to keep the leather from drying out.

Things not to do: Don't try to use things containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Always avoid advertising detailing sprays that leave the dashboard surface looking wet or glossy, because that can create glare.

How to Clean Tough Surfaces

Solutions containing at least 70 % alcohol are good enough to use on most vehicle’s interior surfaces and are also effective against the coronavirus.

Things to do: Dampen a small, clean paintbrush or soft toothbrush to clean vents, seams, and cup holders. Then apply alcohol to a microfiber cloth to gently clean other hard surfaces.

Things not to do: Never try to use paper towels, which can leave a trail of lint behind.

How to Clean Windshields

The inside of the windshield can become dirty from outside air pollution and also from interior vapors that leave residues and may impede visibility.

Things to do: Clean with a soft cloth and a glass cleaner containing alcohol. Use two cloths to avoid streaks: Apply the product with one, and wipe the glass clean with the other.

Things not to do: Always try to avoid getting cleaner on your upholstery, always remember to spray the cloth and not the glass.

Touch Screens and Button Features

Screens and buttons now become more prominent, which means so are the dust and fingerprints that they collect with pleasure. These require different cleaning products than you’d use for glasses only.

Things to do: Dampen a microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol, then gently rub the screen clean.

Things not to do: Never use an ammonia-based glass or window cleaner, which might damage a screen’s anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coatings.

Your car’s wheels get covered with brake dust, tar, and road grime; these are very hard to remove. To make them shine, look for a wheel cleaner that’s labeled as safe for all surfaces, and avoid caustic cleaners that can harm a factory wheel’s finish. Though dish soap is too harsh, other non-abrasive cleaning products work well enough. Scrub it in with a sponge and a soft-bristled toothbrush in tight areas, then rinse with water. Check for missed spots and go over them.

Give it a rest for its own good. Exterior cleaners, especially those for wheels and tires, stay wet for a long time, it can attract dirt when you drive. Wait until everything is dry before getting on the road.

Although cleaning your car can seem like a bit of a chore, but it’s necessary all the same. It means much to have a car interior that looks clean and smells good. It tells a lot about the character of the owner.

So, you definitely need to know how to deep clean your car.

How to Connect a Trickle Charger to a Car Battery

Updated at: June 22, 2021

We use cars every day in our day-to-day life. Cars are a very essential part of our life. At present, there are various types of cars available in the market. Some of them run using petrol and diesel, some are electric cars.

Nowadays, electric cars are more popular than petrol and diesel-run cars. Electric cars require fewer expenses and less maintenance than other cars. Electric cars are also faster than gas and petrol cars and they are eco-friendly as well. Electric cars require batteries to run. And the best way to quickly charge the batteries is by a trickle charger.

Today, we will talk about how to connect a trickle charger to a car battery.

Trickle Charging

Trickle charging means charging an already charged battery at a rate equal to its self-discharge rate. This enables your car's battery to remain at its fully charged level. A trickle charger provides an even more sustainable charge than a quick jump start.

If you want an alternative power source for your car battery, then a trickle charger is a smart investment for you. The main reason for using a trickle charger is to charge your car battery in emergency situations. You don't want to see your battery dead at the time you need it.

That's the time when the trickle charger comes in handy. Attach it to your car battery when it's parked, and your car has a steady stream of power. Now let's talk about the steps on how to connect a trickle charger to your car's battery.

How to connect a trickle charger

There are a few steps you need to follow to connect a trickle charger to your car. After following these steps your car will be always ready to go whenever you want to.

how to connect a trickle charger
How to connect a trickle charger

Step 1: Position Your Car

Your car can not be moved once you connect your car battery and trickle charger components together. So, you need to keep it in a garage. During the trickle process, some fumes might emanate from the system. No need to worry, it's completely normal.

Step 2: Set the Power Specifications

A car's battery is standard when it comes to specifications. It's always good to verify the amperage and voltage of the battery before any connections are made with the charger. You can use the buttons on the trickle charger to set it to the exact same numbers of voltage found on the car battery.

Set the values to the middle of the range which is found on the battery. Any kind of fluctuations can still be within a safe area. Overcharging the battery can cause many problems. Overcharging leads a battery to damage. Sometimes, it causes fire because of chemical reactions.

Step 3: Ground the Charger

If you know how to test a car battery, then you can easily understand the importance of ground. The negative side of the circle provides a gateway for an electrical surge if there is one. It's a safety mechanism for the battery.

You must ground the trickle charger before hooking it up with the battery. A grounding clip is usually included with the power source. You need to attach it to a clean section of the car's frame.
